So, the joke started out many years ago like this…
“Can I sleep in this makeup, and how long will these lashes stay on?”
I laughed and told my client that although I don’t condone it, if she ‘sleeps cute’, it should last at least overnight. This question slowly became the norm and is still popular to this day.
I could tell you all the negative effects that working out or sleeping in your makeup has on your skin, but I know some of you won’t listen. This is only meant to be a humorous blog and not one you should rely on as an excuse to ‘sleep cute’! When asked what this means, I always laugh and tell them that they have to sleep with their arms next to their sides and their head straight back on the pillow. No side sleeping, flipping around like a ballerina, or sleeping on their stomach.
The reason for this post is not only because the question is still asked almost daily, but because I was able to finally show you proof that people do this! Nicole and I were at a wedding that was early in the morning. The two ladies who were kind enough to volunteer first, had to have both their hair and makeup done. I was into just about the third bridesmaid when I noticed the two ladies both laying still trying to keep their hair and makeup in place. This is what I saw…
I had never actually witnessed someone trying to ‘sleep cute’ after asking me if it was possible. I had to take a pic and thought this little anecdote was something fun to share. Thank you ladies for being such good sports and letting me post these great pics to illustrate what this phenomenon looks like. I have had bride’s tell me that they woke up the morning after their wedding night and flew to their honeymoon destination with a perfect face. One bride even had a softball game to play after her trial run – yep, she called me to tell me they won the game and her lashes were still on the next morning. I could share many stories about happy clients, but these are just a few examples.
The bottom line is this – you may not get a good night’s sleep, but you can definitely ‘sleep cute’.
